If you're interested in what a really cool shopping experience is like in Japan, king-place of nerdom, this guy has a photo romp through Nakano, the epicenter of otakudom.
My impression of shopping in Japan so far? It's all the best parts of shopping in Europe (e.g. lots of smaller shops, as opposed to megaconglomerates) mixed perfectly with all the worst parts of a logically indecipherable writing system (to a Westerner), so that while you're convinced there are cool things all around you, you're never sure where to find them.
